"Garden of Eden" A lot of folks not familar with the underwater world perceives it as a drab and dreary place. They are partly correct because color is lost (especially the reds, oranges, and yellows) in as shallow as 20 feet. However, if a light source (ie a strobe) is placed and dialed in properly for the shot, the entire underwater world comes to life. Here a diver enjoys and cruises pass a very colorful reel wall in the Windward Isles.
"Conception " The growth of a reef begins with life. To capture an image of a coral spawn requires a lot of planning, a lot of luck, and then all the stars, moon, and planets lining up. Here is my image of a coral spawn on a shallow Caribbean reef
"Caribbean Shallow Reef" Blackbar soldierfish glide in and around this shallow reef system
"Jobah" What the Longlure Frogfish,( Antennarius multiocellatus) lacks in mobility he (or she) makes up for with ingenuity. A frogfish swims poorly (more like a hop) so it plants itself in a sponge or on a rock and waits for his meal, dangling the long white lure to attract his next dinner. This frogfish was found in Dominica,Windward Isles on Castle Comfort reef.
"Us and Them" Solitaire female diver glides along with a massive school of barracuda at Mary's Place, Russell Island chain, Solomon Islands
"Big and Bold" Bull sea lion near the surface in the Sea of Cortez
"School's In" Very busy shallow reef near Felidu Atoll in the Maldive islands
"Hal-Is that You?" Alien like close up of pufferfish off of a Roatan, Bay Island reef.
"Busy Shallow Reef" The shallow waters at a dive site off of Gizo, Solomon Islands is appropriately referred to as "Grand Central Station."
